Question
Does garlic kill flies, and if so will it give your horse colic if you feed it to them?

Answer
Hi Sarah,  I don't think garlic actually kills the flies, I think it's more of a repellent.  It is safe as we used to feed it to our horses a long time ago.  I just had some boarders in temporarily who fed it to their's, I asked them if they thought it worked and they said they couldn't really tell.  But as I said, it will not hurt your horse.  If you want to try it, I would feed 1/2 to 1 oz per day, you could split it if your horse get's fed twice a day so that you would give 1/2 oz. AM and PM.  It's just regular garlic salt/powder that you can get at the grocery store.  Good luck, jessica
