fodder to horses for joint fitness and hoof stronger

Question
hello, what fodder should be fed to horses which makes their joints and hoof hard hit and stronger which lasts longer?

Answer
Hi Caine,

Thank you for your question.  Key nutrients involved in joint health are copper and zinc, as well as calcium, phosphorous and magnesium.  These minerals can be found in forages as well as complete feeds but I would recommend a commercial mineral/vitamin supplement for racehorses.  The nutrients responsible for hoof strength are biotin, methionine and zinc.  Biotin and methionine are generally not added to complete feeds but can be found in a well formulated hoof supplement.

Thanks, Corlena
