Questionhello, i believe that cut out grass is toxic for horses since it releases toxins. so how come cut out lucerne(alfalfa) is fed to horses, dont they release toxins? and what happens if i feed lucerne hay to horses?

Thank you for your question. I'm not entirely sure what toxins you are concerned about, but cut grass and alfalfa does not generally contain toxins that are dangerous to horses. There are instances where poorly preserved forages can mold and be dangerous to feed to horses but this is more a function of improper preservation and not due to a toxin found in the forage itself. Fresh and preserved lucerne is a quality forage that can successfully be fed to horses.
