Question
I am wondering when I can start breaking my colt?

Answer
Hi Brandy,

You can start getting your horse used to being sat on as early as 2.  You just don't want to begin doing very much with him until 2.5 or 3 years (that would depend on his breed, ex: if he was an arab, I would wait until 3 but if he's a clydsdale go ahead earlier.)

If you push them to hard at a young age it could cause problems in there legs in future years.  This is why you hear about so many problems with Thouroughbreds, they are being trained as early as 1, therefore they have a lot of bowed tendons and other leg complications...

Have fun!
