Question
My wife and I are looking into purchasing land with a small house and small horse farm. We would like to have two horses; we live in Chattanooga, TN and have looked at 5.3 acres we want to build a home a 1.3 of the acres. Our question is can two horses be happy and healthy on 4 acres. In addition, what is max number of horse for four acres?

Answer
THE RULE OF THUMB IS 1 TO 1.5 ACRES PER HORSE DEPENDING ON GRASS QUALITY OF THE PASTURE AND HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO USE THE PASTURE AS A SOURCE OF  FEED.

UNDER THAT, THEY WILL TRAMPLE THE GRASS AND HAVE NO PASTURE
LEFT. SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT SPOT TO ME.

                          GOOD LUCK
