hi i have a quarter horse female shes black i was wondering about her lip tattoo its 129652 when i got her we didn't even know here name or were she came from.i was wondering if her lip tattoo can give me information on her.thank you

I see your question has been languishing in the question pool for a while, so I thought I'd answer it.  The American Quarter Horse Association will look up your tattoo number for you.  Their telephone number is 806-376-4811.  You can get your mare's registered name and possible racing history etc.  There are reasons to sell a horse without papers, sometimes it is because the owner didn't pay the trainer's bill.  Some times when someone dies, the family that sells the horses has no idea that the papers should go with the horses.  Some awfully nice horses end up at killer auctions because their owners die and the heirs don't know what might happen to a good horse at an auction. Its hard to guess why your mare wasn't sold with her papers, there are a million possibilities including the small possibility that she was stolen.  There is some possibility if you can identify her by her tattoo that you can get her papers in your name.  When you talk with the AQHA you can ask them about that also.
