Horse Stocking up???

Question
Hello!

I have a 3 year old Sporthorse mare who is quite heavy in build. She is on light work, as she has just begun training under saddle.

On cold nights, i've been keeping her in a 12 x 14 box stall in an unheated barn. My problem, is that she stocks up! If I wrap her legs, they won't swell. If I don't wrap her legs and she stocks up, 15-20 minutes of exercise will bring the swelling down.

I'm not sure what causes this, and what I can do about it? If you could provide any insight, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Answer
Put a small handfull of glaubers salt in her water bucket and she will quit stocking up.

I had one horse that would stock up when he needed to be wormed.

Most of the time it is a circulation problem that just hits different horses, and the gluabers salt take care of it in a few days
