retraining a hard loader

Question
My mare will not get on my trailer.  She has excellent
ground manners, will stay right with me, trot in hand, stop
on a dime, but will not follow me onto the trailer.  She
stops with her toes at the edge of the ramp.  She can be
coaxed on to the trailer by grain or peppermints, but only
half way and only a couple of times.  After that she will
stand at the end of the ramp and stare at you regardless of
how much you pull, coax/pressure from behind, offer
grain, etc.  She will not move.  Do you have any
suggestions of training I can do with her or other ways to
encourgage and motivate her to get on the trailer?

Answer
good place - bad place theory in place here...

trailer is good place ---no loading is bad place

you'll need help to get this mare retrained...

one of you take the mare towards the trailer do NOT pull do NOT look at the mare ---
if you look at a horse in a round pen from the front they usually stop so you don't want to be using this body language when you want her to come towards you.

just keep her "pointed" towards trailer.  helper is outside and when horse moves towards trailer --- no 'heat" is applied --- if horse moves away ---holder maintains position of pointing towards trailer and doesn't let mare leave- heat is applied until mare returns to point of start at minimum ---
if done correctly mare will load
THEN feed the mare in the trailer...don't move it or haul her - feed her...
