Question
Well, when taking her out of the pasture or starting lead her after taking up etc, she tries to take control and push her way past me and speed up, go where she wants to. I have started using a chain across her noseband with halter to control her better, applying enough pressure to try to get her attention. I think she was "over treated"(treats) and she is always on the look out for food. I am trying to be very selective as to when and if I give her treats. Just looking for some tips,as I said previously she is the first mare I have owned. Thanks allot for answering so quickly.

Hello, wondering if you have any tips on handling a "pushy" mare. She is a sweet horse. 18yr hanov/TB cross. First mare I have owned, much different than gledings. Thanks

Hello!
I would need to have examples on what she does to be pushy..I would love to help you!
So if you can send a question again...with details about how she is pushy, that would be great! Thank you

Answer
Hello Tammy!
Alright, well i think you would need to just take her out one day, and just work on leading. Like...go get her in her turn out...or in her stall or wherever you keep her, and walk around outside and such, with making sure you are always the one leading. The chain is a good idea. I think you should just simply take it from the beginning, show her that you are the boss, and praise her lots and lots with big pats when she obeys.
Thank you!
