Question
My pasture is very muddy in certain places, and my horses are constantly walking in mud... almost none stop. Is this bad for their hoofs in any way? If it is what can i do to help?

Answer
Hello Kailey,
This is a difficult questions to answer without seeing pictures of your horses hooves...can you send me some to my E-mail at jnksize@comcast.net? It would be best if the pics were of the horses on flat and dry ground where I can see the shape and details of the hooves, and also maybe a pic of the underside of the hooves.
How many months out of the year is your pasture really wet and do the horses have places where they can get out of the wet environment? Can you describe or send me a pic of your pasture as well? Usually, it should not be a problem for a healty hoof to be exposed to mositure during the wet months of the year but that really depends on the horse, whether the horse can get away from the moisture and how long this wet environment is present.

Please let me know whether you can send pics and if not, can you describe the condition of their hooves to me?

Thanks much!
Christine
