Has my mini mare misscarried?

Question
Hello,
I adopted a 3 yr old mini mare back in June. In July the vet took an ultrasound and confirmed her pregnant. He thought maybe 5-7 mos. Her belly has been consistently growing (about 1/4"-1/2" weekly) until the end of Oct. Since then, no increase. I had the vet out two days ago. He could not feel movement or a heartbeat but wasn't alarmed. He took a blood sample for a pregnancy test. We should get results soon. Should I be overly concerned? This is my first baby...Please answer soon...Thanks

Answer
Dear Debi,
No movement is a bad sign in general, but sometimes the foal is in a position where you can't hear the heartbeat. Just take a deep breath and wait for the results. If the mare looks to be in pain then you need a vet out. If is a misscarriage she will PROBABLY dispel the foal, but that dosen't always happen. just keep checking on her and check for movement.
