Question
Dear Milton
I have a 5 year old Spanish Pasa Fino that I just bought 2 months ago. She was previously abused and I think starved. Her ribs and hip bones were showing very bad!!! She is starting to fatten up I believe but her hips are still real bony!! I had one vet say she was possibly heavy but she shos no signs when I run her a little. She is a very skidish horse and does not like for me to even touch her. I cannot get her to come to me and I just want to love her!! I ran her today and noticed she started to foam at the mouth some and was very scared, I do not have alot of experience eith horses and I am trying to learn things on the net. Could you please help me and give me some advice? I am feeding her Omelene 200 lots of hay and water. Also I have a mineral salt block.
                             Thank You
                             Sincerely
                          Grace Jordan

Answer
SHE CAN HAVE ALL THE HAY AND WATER SHE WANTS, AND OMELENE IS A GOOD CHOICE, BUT YOU DID NOT TELL HOW MUCH OMELELNE YOU ARE FEEDING. MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BACK OF THE BAG.

BE SURE TO SETUP A GOOD WORMING PROGRAM. SHE SHOULD BE WORMED AT LEAST 4 TIMES A YEAR. ZIMECTRIN GOLD ONE TIME, THEN  ALTERNATE WITH PANACURE ETC

IF YOU CAN FIND A TREAT SHE LIKES IT WILL HELP YOU CATCH HER. SOME HORSES LIKE HARD MINT CANDY, OR CARROTS, OR JUST A HANDFULL OF FEED.MOST HORSES LOVE TO HAVE YOU SCRATCH THEM ON THE WITHERS AND WILL EVEN WANT TO NUZZLE YOU WHEN YOU DO IT.

MORE THAN ANYTHING SHE NEEDS T.L.C.(TENDER LOVING CARE) AND SHE WILL COME AROUND

                             GOOD LUCK
