Question
Hi There!
My Little Pony Cromwell Who I Keep As A Companion Is 32 Years Old And A Welsh pony (Welsh Section A) I Always Give Him Bit Of A Groom Before I Take My Horse Out. Bit His Feet Seem To Become Cracked And Sometimes Black Liquid Trickles Out Of The Cracks I'm Beginning To Get Very Worried And Got Some Creams But They Are Not Working!!
He Lives Out As A Field Companion 24/7 And It Does Get Muddy But His Field Is Huge So He Can Escape The Mud. Please Could You Help?

Answer
Hello Lucy!
Thank you so much for your question! Where are the cracks in his feet where the black liquid is coming out of? Is it on the bottom or the side? Can you send me pictures? Is he lame?
Not seeing him in person, I can't really give you good advice since what you are seeing can be due to at least 2 things...both of which, however, would be important to have looked at by a vet and/or farrier.
The things that came to mind for me are severe thrush (cracks on bottom of his feet next to the frog), abscesses (cracks on the outside or bottom of his feet) or some other hoof integrity problems ..... hard to say without seeing him.

Pictures would be really  helpful, also  please let me know what he currently eats and how heavy he is...

Thanks much!
Christine
