Russian tortoise lighting

I am thinking about getting a Russian tortoise and i need to know what i have and what i need to get. I think I have everything except the lighting, Will a desk lamp work for the lighting and how long should i have the light on everyday.

Hello and No, You need a heat source...over head heat lgiht and a UVB sourdce to mimic sunlight(it needs to be right over the tank 10 inches from the animal or it doesnt work and uvb is filtered out through glass or plastic so it must be on a wire top) a 5.0 uvb tube will do and the hot spot in the tank should be 90/95 F
