turtles tail bleeding

Question
I have 2 painted turtles,1 red ear slidder and a snapping turtle. The painted and red ear have been together in a big tank for 2 years now.  The snapping turtle was put in a few months ago he is much smaller than the others.  The snappers tail is now bleeding.  I do not think he got bit.  The end of the tail is white and is bleeding.  What can I do.  I took him out of the water and put him in his own container.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Answer
Aggression between turtles is usually a sign of crowding- and snappers are usually happier in their own, shallower tanks anyway.

If the stump is still bleeding, dry the poor guy off and dab the stub with cornstarch. Apply a clean gauze pad with direct pressure if needed to stop the bleeding. When it is no longer bleeding, clean the area well with Betadine Solution or other good skin cleaner, apply some triple antibiotic ointment and keep it out of the water for about an hour (keep it warm, however!)

Repeat this daily until the wound is clearly healing.
