Question
How come my turtle won't eat.  Yes, I did get it from the wild. Well my grandmas friend did. Its a red eared slider kept in a fish tank by itself, except 3 ladybugs.  Its water is warm and I fed the turtle, turtle food, strawberries, cucumber chunks, & carrot slices. Its a baby, only one inch long, a hatchling. I've tried everything! Its tank has a light, a cenimeter of water, and rocks to stay dry on(the rocks are small leading to one big one.) there is also 2 1 inch by 1 inch rocks if it needs out of the water. thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Hello Megan,

It's good that you're trying to vary the food, it's usually the most effective way to make a turtle eat something.
However, in this case were you just got the turtle, I don't think it's any disease behind this refusal to eat. Instead, I would say that this behavior is quite normal, since turtles gets very passive in a new home and with new surroundings. It might act very shy during the first couple of weeks, so what you have to do is to keep giving it the right kind of food (Worms, snails, aquatic plants and some small amounts of commercial food - like Reptomin - for example)
and spend as much time with it as possible, that will make it get used to you!

Best wishes
