my red eared sliders are not eating

Question
I have two red eared sliders.  One is about 8 inches long and 5 wide. The other is about 6 inches long and 4 wide. They live in a 75 gallon tank, about 1/3 full of water. but not much land space. I have pebbles as their flooring and two filters.  I have fed them the same  stick like food for about a year. They stopped eating it completely for about a week.  So i switched food and they still will not eat. It has been about 3 weeks.  I am very concerned about them.  Also... the edges of their shell are not smooth any longer. They are very rigid. why would this be? Please get back to me when you can.  I want them to be as healthy as possible.

Answer
Not eating is often a sign that they are stressed (often crowded), wrong food, and cold water.

About 25 gallons of water is not a lot- the rule of thumb is about 10 gallons of water per inch of shell length. In your case, that would be about 140 gallons of water. You also may want to revisit the diet. Try http://www.redearslider.com for ideas.
