Question
Hi, I've had my hypo leopard gecko for about a year and i don't know how old he was when i bought him from the pet shop but he was an adult, hes always been active and ate allot but over the past 4 months hes stopped eating, the only thing he will eat is waxworms which i know i cannot give him more then a couple a week, which hes not really wanting now. He hasn't had a poop for a least 3 weeks. Last night i gave him his bath thinking this might help him go do his business (never did. then i woke this morning and noticed his tail has gone a blacky colour and shriveled at the end and got red blood blister type marks on it. His tank is 30inchs by 12inchs and 18inchs high hes got a heat mate and a lamp at the hot side.It was very humid in the tank last night as it had condensation on the glass and mold marks came on the paper towels which has never happened before. Please help i'am at my wits end as its the weekend and no good reptile vet is open.

yours faithfully Gemma

Answer
Hello Gemma,

What separates him from the heat mat?  Is the heat mat inside of the tank or underneath of the tank?
Do you know how hot the temperatures are getting?  What are you measuring the temps with?
Where is the humid hide places & what is in the humid hide that would hold that much moisture?
You are going to have to treat that tail or it will get infected.  Get some neosporin or polysporin ointment & start putting that on his tail 2 times daily.
If he does not begin eating, you will need to get some chicken or turkey babyfood to get into him with a plastic dropper or a syringe without a needle.
He may just end up losing or dropping the tail, the way it sounds.  Did you try to wash off the black color, was it mold possibly, or burned?
A picture would be helpful.  Send one to  Drache613@tampabay.rr.com
