my bunny hates me now !

Hello!

I have recently purchased 2 new buns, 1 female, 1 male. They are 4 months old. I have had the male castrated with disaster!. On of his 'sacks' just filled with blood and was huge, on going back to the vet they said they must have not tied off a blood vessel. Have had to go back to vets every 3 days, poor bun has been pulled about and injected loads.  I have to check for infection every day but he hates me now, my lovely friendly bun is now a horror!!!!. They live indoors in adjesnt cages.  If i go near him its ears flat, and charge and bite me.  I have to put gloves and full body suit on to handle him !!. do you think he will ever get over this ?, what can i do to help him ?, i feel very guilty, only wanted him to be able to live with his girlfriend! any advise would be fantastic.....

He will get over this, but, it's going to take a while.  He feels that he was very abused, and he was in pain, and right now he associates that with you.  

Treat him for now like an aggressive rabbit (which he is), and use the techniques at http://homepage.mac.com/mattocks/morfz/rabcare.html#aggbun

Eventually he will forget what happened, and no longer associate you with trips to the place where they did bad things to him.

If he's been neutered at least 2 weeks you can probably start trying to bond him with the female, he should not react like this to her.
