Question
last week I noticed my bunny scratching his back alot, then I noticed what looked like two small red dots along his back with hair parted around them...then days later they are bald spots about the size of a dime..somene told me(over the phone)that this could be ringworm...I plan to take him to the vet tomoorow unless there is something I can do myself now...what do you think it could be? he's eating, drinking, playing and doesn't seem at all sick other than the wierd bald spots...should I be concerned...please advise..thank you

Answer
Hello, Debi.

I would recommend taking him to the veterinarian. A veterinarian is the only person that can properly diagnose and treat him.

It may be ringworm or it may be fur mites. Without seeing the rabbit, it's hard to tell. Ringworm is zoonotic, so it is possible for you to catch it. I would avoid touching the area and be sure to wash your hands after you handle your rabbit.

Good luck! I would like to know what the veterinarian says, keep me updated!
