Rabbits right hind leg

Question
Hello, I have a bunny that we have raised since the day he was born. He is no approximately 3 months old. Lately whenever he is out, he seems to kind of lay off to one side, his right side. When he hops around he seems to fall like he can't use his right leg. He doesn't appear to be in any pain. It also seems to be getting worse. At first we thought he was just "clumsy" but today I had him outside and he had to almost drag himself around.
Could his hip be dislocated?

Thank You for any help.
P.S. I am bringing him to the vet ASAP

Answer
Hi Sara

Thank you for taking your bunny to the vet.  That is the only way to tell what is wrong.  It could be broken, dislocated or the muscle could be damaged.  Whatever it is they should be able to take an X-ray and tell you.  It may need to be splinted and even though he doesn't appear to be in pain he will probably need to be on some kind of pain medicine.

Rabbits are really good at hiding their pain so that predators don't think of them as easy prey.  Whatever is wrong with him I have faith that he is in good hands.  You obviously care about him very much and he is very lucky to have you.  Please let me know what the vet says.

((hugs to sick bunny))

Good luck

Pam
