im getting my rabbit nuetered soon, will his behavior change? also, i have 8 rabbits now, because my doe had babies. ive never clipped any of my rabbits nails and im not qiuet sure what to do. do i clip the babies nails? they eare a little over two weeks old now.

Hi Katy,

yes his behavior most likely will change.  He will stop excessive marking.  He will stop spraying you (if he does now).  He will basically become the bunny he was before he hit sexual maturity, for the most part.

As for clipping nails, it is a 2-person job for most people.  I would suggest when you go to the vet for your pre-op exam of your bunny boy, ask them to show you how to clip his nails.  They will need to be trimmed every 6-8 weeks.

Don't trim the babies' nails until at least 4-5 months.  Just look at them and when you see they are long (meaning there is a lot of nail (1/4 inch or so) of nail in front of the quick (the red blood supply that feeds the nail), then you can safely take off 1/8 of an inch.  

The vet will be happy to show you and talk to you about backlighting nails (if the are dark/colored) and what kind of trimmer to use. Also ask how to handle a bleeding nail if you accidentally cut the quick.
