Question
My rabbit had worms in his stool so i went to tell my parents and they told me to clean his cage out and we would found out about it.So i went to clean it out cage and his stool is the same now but  he is kinda pale and he is not as active as he usually is.Is this something life threatening or is it something a vet could cure.
Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Jordan

The very best thing for your bunny is to take him to a qualified rabbit veterinarian.  They can give him some de-worming medicine.  I believe the most common is called piperazine.  It is really easy to give to the bunny and it should cure up the worms right away.  The reason he is pale and not active is because the internal parasites (worms) are eating away at his vital organs.  I assure you that this is completely curable and the sooner you get him to a vet the better.  The vet will also be able to give him a general health check up to make sure that nothing else is ailing him.  It is really a good idea to have your bunny brought into the vet at least once a year for a good wellness check up anyway.  If you haven't done so already then now would  be a good time to start.

Please tell your parents that this bunny is not a lost cause.  Worms are one of the easiest and fairly cheapest things to cure.

Good luck and if you need any more help please let me know.

Thank you

Pam

Hi Jordon,

I just wanted to know how your rabbit is?  Did your parents allow you to take him to the vet?  I was just hoping he is doing better.  I truly care about all rabbits and I feel a strange attachment to these animals with whom people ask me for help.

I hope everything is going ok.

Sincerely,

Pam
