Question
i own to rabbits and they have a big drink bottle but lately one of my rabbits i drinking lots soo much i have to re-fill it every day or even twice. the both seem fine in there self and are still eating. is this a sign of disease or anything serois? what should i do?

Answer
Hi,

well, there can be several reasons for this.  If where you are, the weather is getting warmer, warmer temperatures will make rabbits drink a little more.

If they are more active and are very active/exercising rabbits that like to run a lot, they will need more water.

Another possibility is that the bottle is dripping and the ball bearing may not be stopping the water completely.  You should be able to see evidence of a leaky water bottle.

There could be a medical problem, often drinking a lot can be a sign of illness.  However, if they are acting normal and it has not caused changes in their output (ie their fecal pellets are still hard, no diarrhea) and they are eating and have normal appetites, then they ae just drinking what they need.  As rabbits get older certain organs may start not working so well anymore - I don't know how old your rabbit is so I can't say.

I would, given what you say, only one rabbit has recently been drinking a lot, take them in to the vet for a checkup.  (I say bring both because they are bonded and you should try to keep them together as much as possible.)  Have the vet examine the bunny drinking a lot.  Ask them what kinds of tests can be done to determine if anything is wrong.
