Question
We are the proud parents of "5" 2 week old kits. We have an "igloo" inside the cage where they stay.  However, one or two of them find their way out every now and then.  Should we remove the igloo so the mother can get to them better?  We never see her feed them and only once have we found the dome off of the babies entirely.  We covered them back up to keep them warm.  Should we be doing anything to help mother and kits???  We let mom roam while we are at home with the cage door open. She is eating very well and drinking plenty, so it seems.  Is it all right to get rid of all the first nesting or should we wait until they are weaned? I have only been cleaning droppings, spills and littler box. Our local pet store is not of much help answering questions. Thanks for your help, in advance.

Answer
hi brenda everything seems ok -just one point -the doe will not put the kits back in the nest if they get out you have to do it.
when the kits have got their eyes open and moving about this is when i change the nest but i give mine loads of hay so she can make another and i would remove the igloo.
