Question
hi Dave, I have a question about my doe rabbit. I have a healthy 2 year old doe who conceived and birthed a litter of 7 without any problems whatsoever when she was 8 months. I'm breeding her again but she seems incredibly reluctant to breed with the buck we have. She runs away from him and will not go anywhere near him. She only acts agressive when he has her cornered. I've introduced them on neutral territory and inside his hutch but with the same results. I've checked her vent regularly but its always pale pink instead of the dark pink I've read should be present when they're ready to breed. I don't know if it is evidence of a problem but her nipples have remained oversized ever since she had her first litter. I doubt she is unable to concieve as she's had alot of phantom pregnancies since her last litter and the last one she had was about 2 weeks ago. Im worried as i don't want her to be forced into breeding but she obviously is willing for kittens when she makes nests and i have found loving homes for any number of kittens. I'm not in it for the money, i love to see my rabbits happy and she was an excellent mum to her previous litter. I would be really grateful for any advice you could give on how to diagnose a problem, thankyou very much for sparing the time to read this!

Thanks in advance, Olivia

Answer
hi olivia -my suggestion would be to try another buck as she definately does not like the one you have. i once had 2 black and tans and when i tryed to breed, the buck would not go anywhere near the doe no matter what i tryed he just wasn,t interested so in the end i gave up with him.
rabbits are classed as adults at 5 months old so at 2 years they should still be ok .
if you are experienced you could hold the doe whilst the buck mounts her but be careful she may bite you.theres not a lot more you can try.
one thing did you put the doe to the buck or put the buck in the does cage?
