Question
Our family has just got a dwarf female pet rabbit.  It is 7 weeks old.  Lola is very curious and loves to run.  I believe she will be a wonderful bed if she ever settles down.  My question is how do I get her to stop nipping?  She nips everyone that she goes near.  We have tried to use the firm "no" and we have tried using gentle voices to reassure her.  If I get her spayed will that help?  Please let me know as my kids don't want to play with her anymore because she keeps nipping.

Answer
Some rabbits like dogs (especially babies) are mouthy.  They are not biting or nipping to be mean, but to explore their world in a more detailed way.  If yo do not like the nipping (which you shouldn't as it can lead to worse bites) I suggest getting her neutered when she is old enough and invest in a small spray bottle that mist instead of  a stream.  carry it around with you and when she nips, spray her (on her shoulder, feet, back etc, not in the face as you don't want to get water in her ears but near her front end is the best) Also continue with the "NO!" and she will soon learn that when she nips she gets wet and rabbits hate water.

Good luck
