Help the baby bunny!!!!

Question
My cat brought a baby bunny to my back yard. It isn't dead,
but it is only sniffing and blinking. I locked the cats
inside, and put a plastic crate over it - one with holes big
enough it can fit through. I also put some Romanian lettuce
in the crate. I used to own a bunny and have a place in my
heart for them... I am just not sure what to do now...

Please help the baby bunny live!!

Answer
Hi,

you need to see if you can find a wildlife rehab group around you to examine the bunny, treat any injuries and wean it from milk to grass.  Baby bunnies need mom's milk.  In the meantime get some kitten milk replacement from a pet supply store, and when you mix it up, mix it with full cream (not milk).  Make the bottle nipple hole slightly bigger so it will flow okay.  Do not force milk into the bunny, let the bunny suck as long as he wants milk.  Should be fed 4-5 times a day.  Keep inside in a box with cut up cotton tshirts and towels for warmth, you may need an overhead incandescent light to provide a small amount of warmth at night.

Call up your area's animal shelters and rescue groups and ask about wildlife rehab groups, if there are none listed in the phone book around you.
