sore under neck

Question
Our 2 year old male bunny has a round black growth under its neck the hair is missing around the hole and there may be some infection comeing out the side of the growth.  It doesn't appear red it is real black and looks like a growth.  Have not had rabbits before so I have not a clue if it is a cancer spot or what cancer would look like.  He seems to be eating and running.  He lives in my back yard.

Dear Debra,

Please get the bunny to a good vet ASAP.  This could be a jaw abscess that needs antibiotics and aggressive treatment if the bunny is to get well.  This will not heal on its own--it will just get worse without treatment, and could even attract flies to lay their eggs, causing myasis (fly strike) in the wound, which would be fatal.
