QuestionHello we have 2 lop eared rabbits in our classroom for an inquiry learning for a kindergarten classroom.... We have bred the rabbits (they have been separated since and their cages are side by side) We have been told by 2 others that the Doe is pregnant... we have given her a nesting box on day 28 and today is day 30.... She made a nest in the box as well as pulled some of her fur for her nest. Today we went to the school to check on her and she still has no babies. Is it possible she is not pregnant? Can they go past day 30? Any info you can give is appreciated!!! Thank You!
AnswerDear Jodi
Normal gestation is 28-31 days. If she still has no babies by day 32-33, I would have her checked by a rabbit-savvy veterinarian who can check to be sure all is well. If too much time goes by, the babies can become too big for her to deliver safely.
