printer ink???

Question
in the middle of the night my bunny turned over one of her cardboard houses and i woke up to her ripping a photo {ink jet color photo on plain printer paper} that was taped to the house {high up where she can't reach it , unless she knocked the house down like she did}.  went i went over to pick up the house and pieces of paper, i realized that she must have eaten some of the photo because i couldn't piece the photo back together and maybe some scotch tape :(.
i am really nervous now, is it toxic? can she get sick? should i get to my vet now? she may have eaten as much as 3" by 5"
help!
thanks,
CC

Answer
Dear CC,

I very much doubt that she could have ingested enough ink to cause any problems.  The nastiest part of the ink is present while it's in liquid form, and that has long since evaporated.

Some of the pigments used in printer inks can be toxic, but generally not in small amounts, and usually not acutely toxic (i.e., with instant adverse results).  It's a good idea to take her to the vet and let the vet know what happened, but I don't anticipate any serious problems.

Hope this helps.
