my rat smells...

Ok, I clean his cage all the time, but my actual rat is starting to stink a little bit. I tried to teach him to swim, he would have nothing to do with that, so I know a bath won't work...
are there any tricks to get him to not smell? I had 3 females and they never had this problem.

Boys do tend to smell more than girls. He doesn't have to know how to swim to have a bath either. Fill your tub with about an inch of luke warm water at its deepest point. Use a cup to gently pour the water over him and rub in a tiny amount of baby shampoo. Rinse the same way. He's not going to like it, but should get more used to it in time,
