our 15month old misty just passed away 4 days ago and left our 12month old all alone and obviously grieving and lonely. Is it a good idea to get 2 more young ones to put in with her? We want to do the best but not sure what that is. Will she be ok with introducing new friends or will she be distressed? Thanks.

You can and should introduce two young females. Just make sure you clean out the cage thoroughly first.  Introduce the rats on neutral ground.  We use the hallway or bath tub. Remember that scuffles, squeaks, and tussels are all normal, and it will take a couple of days to settle down.
