my rat sounds like a pigeon

hey, i have a pet rat, a buck aged around seven months. recently, and this may ound weird, but hes started sounding like a pigeon. he doesnt do it all the time, but now and again he makes a pigeon noise in his throat. Hes otherwise fine, eating and drinking well, running around and chewing my remote control, he doesnt have a runny nose or any other health indicators.

what could it be?

In his throat? If you pick him up and press his chest against your ear, do you hear it inside his chest/lungs?

If not, it may just be a funky noise he makes. If you hear it in his chest cavity, he has some congestion and it may be the start of a minor respiratory infection.
