Question
i noted on a previous question you labelled a baby rat trimese.  what exactly is that?  and what makes this cutie so undesireable?  especially if it look siamese as an adult?

Answer
Tri-mese/Trimese is an unofficial marking -- unofficial meaning that most clubs won't recognize it as a real color, and instead refer to it as a White Marked Siamese, or Siamese with White Markings. What makes them different from a normal siamese is that a normal siamese is born dark self (no white anywhere) and lightens up until only points remain. A trimese is born dark also, but usually has a pattern such as hooded or berkshire (or sometimes blazed) and then lightens. As a result, often they're missing one or more points. A proper siamese has points at their ankles, base of the tail, base of the ears and end of the nose. A trimese normally has nose and tail points, occasionally ears points, but rarely has all four legs pointed.

If someone is breeding for club show purposes or for betterment of their Siamese line, it's best to not include trimeses and instead go with only glowing examples of a Siamese, those with nice, dark points and all in the proper areas.

Hope that clears some up. :)
