Monkey noises?

Hi Sandra!

My boy Dom just turned 2. This month I've heard him make a noise 3 or 4 times. It sounds kind of like a monkey going "ou ou ou" [like the word "you" with no "y". lol, best I can do.] It's not too loud, and it lasts between 10-20 seconds and usually ends with a kinda sneeze or, as my roommate said, once it sounded like he cleared his throat out at the end.
I got two new kittens this month two. One of the times I caught Dom making the noise was when they were next to his cage. I thought maybe he was talking to them, but now that I've heard it a couple more times I'm wondering if it's more serious.

Would it be ok to take him to the vet and get a round of antibiotics?
The "monkey noise", does that mean congestion instead of vocalization?

Yep, thats the way I describe it too...like a WHO WHO WHO sound on occasion, too, or the monkey sound.

He is showing signs of mycoplasmosis pulmonis and should be properly treated with baytril for the entire 30 days that is required to try to nip it in the bud before it gets out of control.
