Question
i have a timneh african grey i was thinking of getting him a companion as i cannot afford to get another grey i was wandering if i could  get a cockatiel will these two breeds mix together well in the same cage and if they can how would i go about it. the shop i saw the cockatiels in it was in a avairy with about 10 different breeds around simalar size but will it be okay with my grey and would i need a seperate cage or can they mix straight away
thanks tony

Answer
Hi Tony,

Unfortunately, it is too risky to put an african grey in a cage with a bird as small as a cockatiel. If the grey got upset and even just "gently" nipped the cockatiel, he could take off the cockatiel's beak (or do serious damage that would require extensive vet care).

I hope this helps.
