Question
hi.i have lovebirds who have babies , the babies are 6 weeks old in a couple days and the male keeps attacking them , i went to m ylocal petstore and asked their advice and they said that i should take them out of the nest box and if i could put them in another cage, so i did , and they arent eating on their own yet..what should i feed them before i start trying to wean them...when i do start should i just try to feed them seeds

Answer
Hello Sonja and thank you for your questions,

It was a good idea to take them out and away from the parents if either parent was harming them. If they are under 6/7 weeks old go out and buy some *handfeeding formula from your locale petstore and mix according to bag derictions and and follow feeding instructions/deiretions as well, THey should be offered this by syringe of small spoon several times daily and be sure to keep the babies warm, doing a simple google serach on handfeeding will bring tons of information up that will help. Adding small seeds into there handfeeding formula will be fine right now as long as they aren't too tiny(upwards of 4/5 weeks). Leave mushed up fresh veggies/fruit/hand feeding formula and or pelelts and seeds at floor level in teh cage with them a very, very shallow dish of water for them as well, Good luck with your little ones.
