Question
Hi.
My mother in-law's female budgie has 5-6 week old chicks but now (done this before) she's trying to kill them.I can't let this happen and want to rare them myself.Am I doing the right thing?I have taken them away from her today as one of them is badly injured due to the mother trying to kill it.I would appreciate some advice. Thanks & Regards Suzanne

Answer
some hens dont make good mothers she also may be wanting to lay more eggs and get the chicks out of the nest. take them from her get some handfeeding formual(from the bird food section in any petstore) and some plastic syringes without the needles avalible from phamacies or vets sometimes in pet shops as well. read the container of formulas derectiosn adn youll be all set, just keep the babies warm keep them in a mid sized tupper ware container or a ten glalon fish tank either one should have a WIRE cover to pervent them getting out accidently or other pets getting in on perpose, keep them on thick paper towels and change it offen as long as they are kept in a warm area in the home the chicks themselfs will keep each toher warm at this age, best of luck.
