Question
Hi. I have 6 lovebirds in a cage of 4.4.2 feet, is it too small, for a year. Still they fear on seeing humans, how can i make them forget their fears on humans? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Krishna,

So the cage is 4 feet wide, 4 feet tall, and 2 feet deep?  As long as the bars are not too far apart (no more than 1/2" apart) this cage should be fine.

It's unlikely though, since they are housed together, that you will be able to tame them.  Lovebirds who are caged together will bond with each other first over humans.  You would have to cage them all separately and work with them all individually every day for a long period of time to even have the chance of taming them.  It may be in their best interests just to leave them be and let them bond with each other.

Lovebirds are prolific breeders too, so unless you want babies on your hands, you should do some research on how to deter breeding.  As my veterinarian says "if you rub (cage) two lovebirds together, you're going to get babies".  If these birds are related - I highly recommend you separate them if they show signs of breeding together.  Inbreeding will cause some serious health issues in the offspring.

Good luck!
