orphaned baby mice

Question
My family has just found 7 baby mice out in our backyard under the porch we tore up. My dad was using loud tools so we assume the mother left in fear. The babies are about 1-2 weeks old. We are feeding them warm milk with sugar every 4 hours right now and are going to get the puppy formula tomorrow for them. We have them in a box with sheets and a heating pad under. Do you have any suggestions as to anything else I could do to help them survive?

Answer
Make sure the heating pad is only half under the box, so they have a place to go if it gets too hot. Check constantly for dehydration by pinching the skin lightly. If it stays up for a long time you need to give them pedialyte. Rub their genitals with a cotton ball or Q-tip until you see a drop of moisture form by their genitals, indicating that they have urinated. Check the surrounding bedding for feces and consistency of feces. If it's liquid then they have diarrhea and you need to rehydrate them via pedialyte immediately. Other than that you're doing everything in your power to keep them alive.
