Question
Hi,

I just caught a mouse at my office. He is a small little guy, and I don't want to put him outside by himself. Would it be crazy for me to keep him? And if I do keep him, how do you take care of a mouse?

Sarah

Answer
Dear Sarah,
thank you for your question.
If the mouse is adult, there's no reason why he couldn't be put outside. Wild mice should only be kept inside over the winter if you have raised them from infancy or if they have some kind of health problems. They need huge cages, much bigger than fancy mice and will remain very skittish all their life.
I recommend putting the mouse outside again. He's a wild animal and will be able to fend for himself.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer
