3 day old baby field mouse

Question
Hi I have been searching the web about info on new born mice, not much luck, but yours has given the most incite. $ days ago a friend called, thinking they had found baby opossums. I have raised one before, but it came to be field mice. He found them in his drive way, after the rain. There were only 2 still alive. I would guess the mother mouse was moving them. Any way. I have been giving the little fellows Kitten replacement formula every 2 hour. One past away last night. I don't know what happened. I have a heating pad, on low. Its just warm, not hot. Feeding them every 2 hours as suggested, and rubbing there tummy and bottoms after every feeding. The one left is larger than the other and seems stronger, but doesn't want the milk. I don't see the "white" area were its tummy should be full after it eats. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Dear Kandice,

It's hard to raise an infant mouse.  They are only programmed to drink from their mommies' teats.  Your little mouse is certainly hungry, but just can't figure out how to eat.  All you can do is keep trying.  Use an eyedropper.  You will see the milk in his tummy only if he doesn't have any fur yet.

Thank you for rescuing the little tykes.  I wish them and you the best of luck!

squeaks,
