Question
I had my mouse for about a year and a half. She is a female. Just recently (about a month) ago a have been noticing that some of her hair on the back of her neck has been falling out, and little red sores on her skin. i have been cleaning her cage regularly (like 2 times a week). And now she has these open sores one about the size of a pumpkin seed, and one about the size of a small sunflower seed in the middle of her back. i have no clue when this adapted or how. I'm not forsure if she is allergic or if she is biting at her self. But i would like to know if it is contagious.
Thank you.

Answer
Check out the link below. It has a lot of great information in regards to mites/lice/barbering etc in mice. Is she kept with other mice? Have you changed bedding recently? If you have other mice, depending on whether or not she has lice or mites, or even possibly ringworm, than yes it could very well be contagious. I would not introduce her to any new mice. There is no need to seperate her, as if she has mites or lice or ringworm, chances are about 99% the others have it as well, unfortunately. Until she can be seen by a vet, you can clean her wounds with some warm water and apply a triple antibiotic topically to the effected areas. If her sores are very large the vet may want to prescribe antibiotics to prevent further infection and abscesses.
