Mouse scratching probably mites

Question
I really need your advice on my pet mouse Sandy. She has recently started scratching her neck and ears so bad that she actually is bleeding pretty bad. My other mouse Linguini is showing no signs of skin problems. I have tried neosporin on her, and also a Hot Spot Remedy that is made for puppies. Nothing is stopping her from scratching. Half of her ear is gone already. My vet will not see her. They don't "deal with" mice. Any home remedies I can try? I am afraid she is going to die soon if I can't help her.

Answer
Dear Daniela,

It's unfortunate your vet doesn't deal with mice.  Maybe you can call around.  A vet would specialize in "pocket pets" or "exotics."

In the absence of a vet diagnosis, I would say it's very likely that the mouse has mites.  If one mouse has it, the other does too, although she is too healthy to show it.  They both need to be treated.

Let me just send you to my explanation of mite treatment from another post:

This should explain everything.
