Baby mice are dying

Question

Three remaining babies
Hello,
I really need help because i'm kinda new to this. I've had a Pet mouse (Precious) for about half a year. In December 2010 i decided to add a friend because ii just built a big playground for her. The new mouse (Puny)and Precious were introduced on the playground which was still neutral because precious hasn't been there yet. They got along very well so after a few hours i placed them in Precious' cage and they still got along. I noticed that Puny was pregnant and only a few days later (Monday this week) she had 5 babies. During the day one of them died and i removed it because it was lying in front of they're house away from everyone else and partially eaten, by the mother i'm thinking. Yesterday (Tuesday) or overnight another baby died. I did the same thing that i did with the first one that died (removed it). Now i dont know what to do they all seemed healthy. I could see the white spot in their tummy which i read is the milk that they consumed from the mother. I did notice that they barely squeak though. Should i take the remaining three babies out before the mother kills them too and feed them by hand? I am kind of scared that i'll do something wrong since this is the first time that one of my pets had babies. On the other hand i don't want them all to die and i feel like they are all at risk to die now either way. Please help me i really want to see them grow up and be healthy. Thank you!

Answer
Dear Patricia,

My advice is to leave them in and hope. It is terribly traumatic for a pinky to be taken away from its mom, and also you have to feed them around the clock every two hours. Often when a mother mouse abandons or kills a baby it is because it is unhealthy or has genetic defects.

I hope the rest of the babies make it.
