lost pregant hamster

Question
We have a hamster that maybe having babies any day now. Last night the cage door was found open. We relized this after we came back from church, so we dont know how long it had been out. hopefully our dog/cat didnt get it. But if we do find it how will we know if she had babies and if she did what should we do since we dont know where they are and cant touch them if we find them. Please Help!

thank you for your question.
There's no way to tell whether she's still pregnant or has had the babies, she won't be any thinner or something.
Shut all the doors and then put a certain number of sunflower seeds and some water in each room. That way, you can find out where she's hiding. Then you only have to search one room. You need to find both mother and babies, they cannot survive without her for more than a few hours now. You can touch them to put them back in the cage rub each baby down with some wood shavings from the cage to hide your smell.
