Question
I bought a teddy bear hamster a week ago. I also bought a critter trail cage will those tubes for climbing. One goes up to a big tube wheel. I just found out that those hamsters get pretty big (about 6 to 7 inches). Isn't that almost the size of a guinea pig? I was wondering if teddy bears get so big they can't fit in those tubes. I wasn't planning on buying another cage. My hamster is probably about a month old. How long does it take for them to reach their full size?

Answer
yes, teddy bear hamsters get too big to where they will get stuck in the tubes. it doesn't take too long for them to get that big. generally in less than 3 months they will get really fat and when they stuff their cheeks with food they will have a hard time going through the cages. I would consider buying a cage without tubes and just a nice big wire cage.
