Question
Hello

Can I give my ferret cat hair-ball remidee instead of ferret lax?

Would a ferret like a small cat/dog bed to sleep in?

Do ferrets like hammocks?

Can I use cat/puppy toys for my ferret?

How amny hours a day should a ferret be let of of its cage?

Is a cage thats 3x2x2 large enough for more then one ferret or would I need to make it bigger?

Can ferrets slip out of a harrness?

Are pelleted wood cat litter ok for ferrets?

Does the litter pan have to have one side lower then the other?

Could I use cardboard boxes, plastic pvc pipes and socks for more toys?

Thanks

Answer
Yes, I have given cat hairball remedies instead of ferret lax and they have done well with it.

They might like a cat or dog bed to sleep in but they would only rip it up eventually.  So I wouldn't suggest it.

Ferrets love hammocks.

I use cat toys for my ferrets.  Some puppy toys are good to.  They love toys that make noises.  Plastic soda bottles with rocks inside are a big hit with mine.

Never let your ferret out alone.  How long he stays out really depends on you.  I would suggest at least an hour a day. Ferrets tend to be highly animated for short periods of play activity and then lapse into a deep sleep. At play they love to seek out objects and rollick about but while asleep they are difficult to disturb or rouse. They do well in pairs and triplets either confined to a large ferret habitat with tubes, tunnels and bedding or allowed to roam loose in the house. Ferrets will prob every conceivable nook and cranny so ferret-proofing a house or room is quite a challenge. Generally, if a ferret got into a space unassisted it is able to get out unassisted. They do not do well out of doors unless they are on a leash. They are active both in the daytime and at night. Small toys and rope-like objects are best kept out of reach because young ferrets often eat them. Ferrets train quite easily to use litter boxes. Silica or bentonite clay-containing cat litter will often cause ferrets to sneeze. I prefer to use cellulose products.

I always purchase at least the 3 level cages for my ferrets.

Yes they can slip out of the harness if it is not on properly.

I would not use wood cat litter.

The litter pans can be whatever is level on all sides.  I prefer the ones made for ferrets.  They clip to the cage so the ferrets can not move them.

Cardboard boxes, plastic pvc pipes would be ok but I would not use socks.  They can get chocked on anything they can chew off and swallow.

I sure hope this helps.  Please let me know if I can help your further.  :)
