are ferrets in the cat family?

Answer
No, ferrets are in the Order: Carnivore, which means they are obligate carnivores (meat eaters only);  Family: mustelidae, same as pine martens, sea otters wolverine and skunks :-)  They do, however, generally peacefully coexist  well with cats. Many ferret owners also have cats.  Some just share the same space in the home, others actually interract and are quite interesting to watch.
